Breeds of dogs that successfully catch rats

Rats are cheeky, prolific, voracious and, in their own way, very intelligent animals. They managed to settle throughout the planet and became a real disaster. There is not a single city and any settlement where these rodents do not encroach on the food supplies of people and fodder for livestock.

And they do not eat as much as they produce food. into disrepair. They live in basements, sewers, in sewer communications, they even manage to get into apartments through ventilation ducts. About 8 billion of the rats living on the Earth now carry about 800 million tons of food off the table, which means that every sixth peasant works for them. But this is not the worst, because these rodents are carriers of various diseases dangerous to people.

To combat rats, people use various chemical agents, biological preparations. But not always and not everywhere it gives a rather positive effect. This is where some breeds of dogs can come in handy.

For example, burrowing dogs are fox terriers and dachshunds, which are commonly used to hunt foxes, badgers, raccoons and other burrowing animals. These dogs climb into the hole and drive out the beast from under the shot of hunters. Sometimes they choke him right in the hole, and some may even pull the beast out.

Now that foxes are getting smaller, and hunting for badgers and other animals is often prohibited, fox terriers and dachshunds can be used at work to combat rats and other rodents. They do not eat rats, but destroy them. Especially good in this work Fox Terriers. There are cases when quite a short time a dog can strangle a few dozen rats.

Dachshunds are also quite clever, although they are less vicious. But the cats that are so easily controlled with mice, in the fight against rats are completely helpless. True there are some individuals, but quite rarely. Maybe that's why many owners of shops and warehouses, to prevent the loss of goods, give birth to fox terriers.
