Cholecystitis in dogs

Cholecystitis in dogs is a disease that affects the bile ducts and is accompanied by inflammatory processes in the gallbladder.

Since this disease is quite rare in animals, it is very difficult to identify it in a timely manner.

Causes of illness

In dogs, cholecystitis occurs for several reasons. The main causative agent of the disease is a microbe. It penetrates into the organism of the animal (precisely into the gallbladder) from the intestine, along the hepatic artery or along the biliary tract. In addition, it can be transferred by lymphogenous way.

Not infrequently, cholecystitis is a complication when an animal is infected with parasites, with infectious diseases (salmonellosis, colibacteriosis) and parasitic diseases (dicroceliosis, fascioliasis, eymeriosis, etc.). Often the disease is the result of malnutrition and malnutrition, especially when there is a lack of vitamin A in the body.
