Team "Place!" and driving a dog without a leash

During this exercise, the dog may stand or sit. We will give the command "Place!", We will extend our hand to the side of the dog and slowly step back, approximately one or two steps.

If the dog does not move, we will return and caress it. If she tries to follow us, let's say “Foo.” The place!

It is important to say "Fu" as soon as she moves, and not when she has already taken steps in your direction. Otherwise, the dog does not understand that it needs to stay in the same place where it is located. Next, we will increase the time and distance until the dog understands that the command "Place!" Means not moving until a new command is given.

This is an extremely important exercise that needs to devote as much time as is required and in no case lose patience. It is advisable to alternate exercises in which the dog stands still with the exercises when it freezes in a sitting position.

Driving without a leash

This exercise is similar to the "driving on a leash" exercise. The only difference is that in this case the dog is untied and can shy away from our control. For achievement of optimum results in this exercise it is enough, at least the minimum knowledge of dog psychology.

You need to be able to anticipate the possible mistakes of the dog and correct them before it makes them. Let's start with the usual driving on a leash. After a few steps, drop the leash on the dog's back and continue walking calmly. The dog must continue the path with normal ease. If we notice that she hesitates, take the leash in your hand and lead her further on the leash. If the dog expresses uncertainty, it is advisable to stop, give the command "Sit!" and caress her, making it clear that everything is in order.

After a few lessons, the dog learns to walk with a leash on its back or hanging down to the ground. After that, you can begin to untie her and walk on a small segment of the path. And then, when we see that the dog accompanies us without a leash, gradually increase this segment. To make this exercise easier and more attractive, it is recommended to use a ball or a favorite toy of a dog. We will hold the toy in our right hand and give it to the dog if it passes correctly a few meters without a leash. Gradually begin to increase the distance traveled. When the dog will accompany you without a leash in a straight line, begin to complicate the route. Also, as during the exercises with the leash, use turns, turn to 180 degrees, changing the pace and so on.
