Mexidol-Vet is an analogue of Mexidol, which has been popular among doctors for more than 10 years. It was developed at the Research Institute of Pharmacology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
The drug is indicated for acute and chronic cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular insufficiency, acute disorders of cerebral circulation, episyndrome, epilepsy in dogs, and traumatic brain injury. It is used during the preparatory period before surgery and during postoperative rehabilitation, for the prevention of post-narcotic complications and age-related disorders of the body of aging animals.
It is necessary for the pathologies of the skin (eczema, wounds, dermatitis), as well as during training, extreme loads and participation in exhibitions. Mexidol-Vet is presented in the form of a solution for injection. In 1 ml of the drug as the active substance contains 25 mg or 50 mg of ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate and water for injection. It is a colorless or pale yellow clear liquid.

Mexidol-Vet has pronounced antihypoxic, antioxidant and membrane-protective properties.

- stabilizes erythrocyte and platelet membrane structures during hemolysis,
- reduces cholesterol.
The animal's body becomes more resistant to the effects of harmful factors and pathological conditions (hypoxia, shock, ischemia). When administered intravenously, Mexidol-Vet quickly enters the bloodstream, as well as the tissues and organs of the animal, and is excreted in the urine.
Solution for injection refers to moderately hazardous substances according to the degree of impact on warm-blooded animals. The therapeutic dose of the drug depends on the severity of the disease. In the acute period of the disease, Mexidol-Vet is used starting from 10–15 mg per kg of dog weight, gradually reducing the dose to 5 mg per kg.
The course of treatment also depends on the disease and can be from 5 to 15 days. The daily dose of the solution is administered in two doses. For the prevention of post-narcotic complications, the drug is used a couple of days before the operation, and, if necessary, it should be administered during the postoperative period - within two days after the operation.
Also, Mexidol-Vet is administered during the operation during prolonged anesthesia at a dose of 20 mg per kg of dog weight. When caring for old animals as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent, the drug is administered intramuscularly to dogs older than seven years old for 5-7 days twice a day. And another 20-25 days apply the tablet form of Mexidol-Vet at a dose of 5 mg per kg of weight.
