  • urinary tract,
  • diseases associated with impaired blood clotting.

The individual symptoms differ according to the cause of the appearance of blood. Thus, in diseases of the urinary system, the dog may experience pain in the process of urination, urinary incontinence may occur. However, the activity, appetite and general condition of the animal remains normal.

In case of a disease of the ureters and kidneys, the daily amount of urine may vary. The dog becomes lethargic, drinks a lot, but refuses to eat, it may appear

vomiting, symptoms of general malaise. If urine becomes less or urination stops for more than 12 hours, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Uneven urine staining indicates that the source of blood in the lower parts of the urinary system. It can be caused by urethritis, cystitis or prostatitis in a dog. If the urine is evenly colored in a bloody color, it is more likely to indicate diseases of renal origin: glomerulonephritis, nephritis.

What to do?

If blood is visible in the urine of a dog, it is necessary to consult a veterinarian to establish the cause and determine the diagnosis, as well as to prescribe the necessary treatment.

If the only symptom that something is wrong with the animal's health is only the staining of urine with blood, and the general condition of the dog is normal and there is no difficulty in urinating, then the situation is not an emergency.

You do not need to give hemostatic drugs without a doctor's prescription. However, if the animal has significantly decreased urine volume, urination is difficult, there are different symptoms of deterioration in the general condition:

  • rejection of feed
  • vomiting
  • lethargy,

the doctor should be treated as soon as possible.

Without an accurate diagnosis, self-treatment can be not only ineffective, but also dangerous to the health of the dog. You can call the vet at home, and then go through all the additional research (x-ray, ultrasound, blood tests and others).
